Welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop, a little bit gay and a little bit cheesy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Tonight’s theme is is Let’s Hear It For The Gay Boys, because it’s mainly boys, except for a couple of guest appearance ladies, and honorary Gay status for Olly Murs. I can’t pick a favourite because this show is the crème de la crème of my favourite boys.

My Single Of The Week is ‘You are unstoppable” by Conchita Wurst (see above). She will be singing this in her guest appearance on the 2015 Eurovision Contest show from Vienna in May, and it is the first single from her forthcoming album Conchita due 15 May. Michael from Babble Pop (7-8pm Saturday night’s on Joy 949) played it last week, and after hearing it I knew I had to play it too. It’s another uplifting ballad, and her voice and frocks are amazing.

What have I seen at the theatre/multiplex lately?

Film : Cinderella : Kenneth Branagh approaches this film in a very traditional way, it hasn’t been sexed up or taken to the dark side, but has been beautifully photographed with a great cast, wonderful costumes and pretty good effects. I liked it and I admit I shed a tear when the Prince proposed, and so did the 500 other young girls in the audience.

Film : MQFF : Lilting : Another quality UK film from the BBC, about a young Chinese man, living with his boyfriend and trying to take care of his mother, who he has just put in care home. I won’t give anything away, but it is beautifully made and it shows the tension between the men, as the Mother doesn’t know that her son is gay, and the stress between on the son as the mother is not enjoying the care home. The film gave me lots to think about, which is what a good film should do.

Film : MQFF : Queen Of Amsterdam : A real crowd pleaser set in Amsterdam during the Pride Parade on the canals. It revolves around the staff of a drag bar, that is going to be auctioned off for now paying it’s debts, and the staff trying to rob a museum of a valuable necklace to raise money to bid for it. There’s a Tom Cruise scene in the museum as one of the team is let down on ropes to get the necklace, and lot’s of hilarity on the canals in the middle of the parade. Overall a goood fun movie, with lots of colour and movement and drag queens.
