Welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop.

Lots of gay talent tonight, and a few more that have gay production values. In case you haven’t noticed, I do like Rod Thomas’ music (aka BLBL see above ‘boxer’) a lot, two tracks with his contributions tonight, also Years and Years featuring the delightful Olly Alexander, and a bright new artist on the GLBTI scene Lucy Whittaker.

From the mainstream we are featuring the amazing Paloma Faith and her contribution to the Rugby World Cup 2015, Stacey Jackson for her contribution to the objectification of men, and the B:Linda Project for out-gayiing one of the gayest songs around. An honourable mention to the ultra cute Fleur East and her song Sax, used in the UK to advertise ASDA (a budget supermarket like ALDI), but managing to remain classy. Respect!

My Song Of The Week is “Pistol In My Pocket” by Peter Wilson vs Jason Buchanan. I love this track because it the artists are aussie, and it is not an obvious cover version. Pistol was originally released in 1986 by Lana Pellay, a UK drag artist. It was a minor hit, and did sound a lot like Dead or Alive, but it was fun, and a good companion piece to anything by Divine etc. The song is a ‘hidden track’ on Peter’s new release For The Very First Time. The souns is very 80’s, much like another new artist, The Stick Up Boys from Brighton. In the UK. Long Live the 80’s revival, PWL and Italo Disco. Check out the original Lana ‘Pistol’ below.
