Welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the gay fun side of trash pop.

New masterpieces (using the term very loosely) from Bobby “O” (lovely to hear cowbells on a track, but does anyone remember him?), Melissa Manchester (another voice from the past still in fine voice), Office Girls (could they be the new Girls Aloud? … as if !!!), two great singer from Romania … Alexandra Stan and Inna, plus assorted glbtiq artists including a new very spunky Bloc Party (see picture above).

My Song Of The Week is “Electric Love” from BORNS. Aka Garrett Borns from Michigan in the USA, this track is right up my alley … chugging electropop that sounds like it was written by Mark Bolan and T-Rex somewhere between the 70’s and the early 80’s. I was transported back in time with a shiver down my spine.

What have we seen around town this week ?

FILM : The Winter’s Tale : This was a filmed stage performance of the Shakespeare play featuring Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judy Dench. The play concerns a jealous king who believes his wife is pregnant with another man’s child. It took me a little while to adjust to the strange language, but it was a bravura performance, and definitely worth searching out by fans.

FILM : The Danish Girl : Great performances from all the cast in this moving journey in the transgender world of the 1920’s. It showed a man’s transition and the physical and mental problems involved.

FILM : Spotlight : Another true story, this time the efforts of an investigative team on the Boston Globe (newspaper), and how they uncovered the widespread abuse of young children by the Catholic priests. We all know the story, but to have a movie version is very powerful, and the acting was all by top shelf artists. Excellent.
