We’ve got a very GLBTIQ friendly show tonight, feauturing Neon Hitch, Years and Years, Conchita Wurst, and oldie from Wayne G ft Peyton, Bebe Sweetbriar (see above), not to mention Sam Sparro. The rest of the tracks are pretty good too.

My Song Of The Week is “Freedom” from Neon Hitch. Now Neon Hitch is an interesting character. She is a UK singer songwriter who has come out as bisexual and claims to be ‘kind of a lesbian. This track actually came out in January 2015, so I’m a year late, but it’s such a great track, it deserves another outing, don’t you think?

What have we seen around town this week ?

FILM : The Big Short : Whilst this is a very well-made and well acted movie, the subject matter (the Global Financial Crisis and the collapse of the USA property market with the sub prime loans) means that there are some very detailed analysis of the mechanics of the loans. Thre is a lot of information to digest, and I’m not sure it’s worth the effort at times. But good on the producers for making the movie.

FILM : The H8ful Eight : A typical Quentin Tarantino movie set in the wild west hills of Wyoming in winter, where a group of villains meet up in a stagecoach road house. This group of 8 nasty people are snowed in for a few days, and over the course of the film the relationships between them comes out, as does much blood. Very gory and also very wordy, but a lot of fun, although at 167 minutes (incl intermission) there is a lot to sit through, but fans will love it all.

SHOW : Georgy Girl : AI know I shouldn’t have, but I did enjoy this bio-musical. It was mostly about the music, all those great Seeker’s songs, with a bit of history in between, and lots of 60’s tunes and dancing from the chorus. It was corny, it was a bit disjointed, but when they came out at the end and sang I am Australian, well, it just made to proud to be one too.
