This week, we discuss the role and range of language in effective communication, and how aspects of indigenous culture, love and relationships can be expressed in the spoken word, painting and in dance. In our acknowledgement of NAIDOC Week 2017, and the theme ‘Our Languages Matter’, noted indigenous dancer, historian and author Tim Bishop presents his monologue “My Man and Me” – a moving and personal story. We hear from indigenous musicians The Pigram Brothers and Georgie Lee. At this time, we also acknowledge anniversaries of US’ day of Independence and Canada’s Day of self-governance, and the lives of Jacques Morali, David Hockney and Percy Granger under the rainbow flag.
