Vanessa Perica visited the Bent Notes studio to chat with David Moyle about her debut album – Love Is A Temporary Madness. The album is a collection of seven of Vanessa’s compositions recorded by her hand-picked Jazz Orchestra.
Vanessa started classical piano at a the age of 6 while also a sports mad child. She then moved to jazz trumpet before jumping into the composition/arranging world – which included conducting!
Vanessa loves the exhilarating feeling of a big band driven by that great horn section sound. Her 17 piece Jazz Orchestra includes musicians she knew from her time studying at WAAPA in Western Australia.
Vanessa also talks about the emotional inspirations which have driven her compositions and some aspects of converting those emotions into musical sounds.
