Adam Simmons spoke with David Moyle about his recent survey of the jazz community. The survey asked about the impacts of the response to the COVID-19 virus essentially shutting down the arts and entertainment industry. He spoke of the impacts to himself as a musician without an opportunity to perform with a live audience, and introduced his brand new album celebrating the music of Polish Jazz pianist and composer Krzysztof Komeda.
The album, Zatoczka was performed by the Adam Simmons Creative Music Ensemble and recorded at Deakin Edge in 2019 during the Polish Film Festival. The performance featured special guests – pianist Tony Gould and vocalist Deborah Kayser. The work was devised by Adam to flow like a movie and the performance featured a live video mix by Jean Poole.
Review the results of Adam’s Jazz Industry survey and submission to the Senate Inquiry on Government response to COVID-19 at The Usefulness Of Art website blog.
