Ben Hanlon, Anthony Schulz and Eugene Ball spoke with David Moyle on Bent Notes upon the release of their trio’s debut album – LAND OF IF.
An “Unconventional” trio, consisting of Trumpet (Eugene), Double Bass (Ben) and Piano Accordian (Anthony), they talk about the challenges, and yet the public need, for genre descriptors; the means by which they personalise their music, and the manner in which they ‘stray’ from the accepted norm for the role of their instruments in an ensemble.
The album is scheduled for an acoustic launch in the beautiful acoustics of Christ Church, 8 Glenlyon Road, Brunswick on Saturday June 26, 2021 commencing at 8pm. The launch is supported by the Melbourne Jazz Collective. (Tickets & more info from the MJC)
