Afro-Brazilian inspired jazz is at the heart of the latest album from Alistair Kerr‘s Panorama Brasil project.
The album has been inspired by the music and iconography of the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomble, with ten of the religions Orixas, or deities, represented by the music that Alastair has composed.
Alastair spoke with David Moyle about the new album – Chant/Call:Stories of the Gods, finding Brazilian Jazz, getting the best from a music lesson, and starting his drumming on the pots and pans!
Panorama Brasil features Flautist Asha Henfry, Trombone player Andrew Hammon, Pianist Matt Boden, Bass player Memo Beltzer with Alastair playing drums and percussion.
