Sherlock & Hanlon’s Stravinsky

Guitarist James Sherlock and Double Bass player Ben Hanlon have released their 2nd Duo album – STRAVINKSY – a collection of pieces inspired by the Petrushka and Rite Of Spring works composed by Igor Stravinsky. (with a little Debussy and Gershwin thrown in for good measure!)

James and Ben chat with David Moyle about taking small sections of such inspirational orchestral works, and workshopping their individual musical thoughts to come up with their final creation for improvisation.

Ben also recalls featuring with The Wiggles when they met instruments of the Orchestra back in 2015, and how he became a video star onboard a plane when the orchestra were travelling.

More details and the album are available from Bandcamp.

Their first album, DUO, is also available on Bandcamp

James Sherlock and Ben Hanlon were guests of Bent Notes on Sunday August 1, 2021
