ANZAC DAY on BROAD, Monday 25 April 2016 and this means WAR.
The War on Women continues and Lauren Stardust and Sonja Hammer and Maria Lewis examine some of the things that women have to endure. The team looks at women of colour, heroes and icons like Maya Angelou and Harriet Tubman and Wilma Mankiller of the Cherokee Nation.
They then discuss female filmmakers who make films that symbolise the battle women experience in raising a child alone while dealing with loss and grief with Lauren’s Film for Feminists: “The Babadook” by Australian Jennifer Kent.
Sonja Hammer interviews the amazing Rita Coburn Whack, the co-director of the very first documentary feature on Maya Angelou that played at the Human Rights Film and arts Festival 2016 in Melbourne, Australia.
