Films for Feminists: Les Blondes of classic French Film

les-blondesBROAD’s Sonja Hammer interviews Michel Ricaud, director of the Alliance Française de Melbourne. Sonja and Michel discuss the history of French cinema, the influence of women in the industry, and the differences in film styles between Hollywood and French film.

The theme of this year’s Alliance Française Classic Film Festival is Les Blondes, in celebration of the iconic actresses who starred in France’s most beloved and influential cinema in the fifties, sixties and seventies. Brigitte Bardot, Jeanne Moreau, Simone Signoret, Jean Seberg, Romy Schneider and Catherine Deneuve delight and charm with wit, grace, and sheer force of character.

The 2016 Classic Film Festival will run at the Astor Theatre from the 4th to the 6th of November. Book your tickets now to make sure you don’t miss out!
