On this episode we are joined by Jo Hirst, author of Australia’s first picture book for transgender children, The Gender Fairy, to discuss the release of their second picture book, A House for Everyone, about gender diversity and gender expression.
“Jackson is a boy who wears a dress. Ivy is a girl who likes her hair cut very short. Alex does not feel like just a boy or just a girl.
They are all the same. They are all different. They are all friends . ”
A House for Everyone is a simple, engaging story that challenges gender stereotypes and shows children it’s ok to be yourself. It’s a space for all children to explore and understand the full spectrum of gender diversity, and will show children the many ways they can express their gender in a truly positive light.
