David is always going on about how he loves Melbourne’s built environment, so he is extra pleased to have Emma Telfer, creative director of Open House Melbourne, with him and Sue in the studio.

Open House 2016 isn’t on until the weekend of 30 and 31 July. But on now, throughout May, is What’s the beef with Brutalism? a celebration of an architectural style that is often called ugly but many think has a charm all its own. There are films, parties, talks and more. Enjoy!

Emma also talks about preserving buildings (for their architectural and/or historic significance) and also about letting some buildings go, in favour of new structures which in due course will become treasures too.
