That is exactly what our next incredible guest on Game On did! Highly decorated eight-time Paralympian Danni Di Toro who is just back from Paris having competed in the Para Table Tennis talks to us about being a Para-athlete, a Paralympian, the sports of para-tennis and para-table tennis because she has competed at the top level in both, and how you can find your place in these two incredible sports. Interested in giving para-sport a go? Check out The Start Line, Paralympics Australia’s dedicated home for information, guidance and opportunities for thriving Para-athletes to begin or continue their Para-sport journeys. Keen to know what your Para-sport options are? There are 29 sports listed on the Paralympics Australia website. (Starts 14mins 59secs)
And while the AFL Grand Final is done and dusted for another year, the AFLW is gaining momentum. Next week is Round 7 – a very special week in the AFLW calendar with the Western Bulldogs playing Essendon at Mission Whitten Oval – the venue of the first Pride game in 2018! Noah Gemmell, President of Bulldog Pride, the LGBTIQA+ supporter group for the Western Bulldogs joins Game On! to chat about their exciting Pride Round plans! The AFLW Pride Round runs from Tuesday 8th October through to Sunday 12th October. Have a listen and join the crew for the Pride game on Friday 11 October at Whitten Oval. The Western Bulldogs have such a rich history in the AFLW Pride journey since it started in 2018 having celebrated Pride every season with AFLW teams St Kilda and Melbourne joining in 2020 – before being extended to a league-wide Pride Round in 2021! Check out the fixture and head to a game wearing your rainbow colours with pride! (Starts 35mins 24secs)
