Welcome to Game On! JOY 94.9’s Home of Sport every Wednesday from 6-7pm across summer where you’ll hear where you can get your game on! This show is all about showcasing where sport is safe, inclusive, welcoming and fun for the Rainbow community!

On the show this week we are joined by Andrew Bondini, President of Melbourne Spectres and Spectres Australia sharing the many and varied exciting opportunities to get involved at a community level in basketball today. And that includes saying hi at the Melbourne United Pride game at the Champion Pride Round at John Cain Arena on Saturday 1st February! Make sure to say hi to the JOY 94.9 crew as we will be broadcasting live from 6-8pm before tip-off! It will be a high-energy and fun event with a host of notable notables on the mics including Australian darling Dannii Minogue and comedian Joel Creasey! (Starts 3:45mins)

Two-time basketball champion Trevor Torrance who played over 10 seasons at the apex of the AIDS epidemic tells us what it was like being a gay athlete in the 1990s and the challenges to being your authentic self in sport. (Starts 16:16mins)

We celebrate being an out, loud and proud athlete talking with filmmaker Damon Palmaricciotti about his documentary Boulder By Boulder sharing the story of Olympic Sport Climber Campbell Harrison who went viral after he kissed his boyfriend after competing at the Paris Games in 2024. And Mitch Nivalis, Director Equal The Contest – one of the three sport films which screened in the sport program line up for the 2023 Melbourne Queer Film Festival has awesome news! Their documentary is now screening on SBS On Demand and Amazon Prime! When the rules exclude you, rewrite them and Mitch has done just that! (Starts 35:06)
