We talk sport on the show so that you can have a life of connection and camaraderie – so we want to make sure you are living your healthiest life to enjoy being active. Dr Peter Brukner OAM world renowned specialist sports and exercise physician and the founding partner and Director of the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne, took the time to come to the JOY 94.9 Sport Studio to talk about his commitment to the challenge of improving Australia’s health with improved diet and increased physical activity. Kristina Mitsikas, Senior Manager Inclusion and Innovation, UWA Sport chats allyship across the University of Western Australia, two great initiatives – the LGBTQIA+ Allyship in Sport Breakfast, and the Wear it Purple Colour Run this Friday 29 August. Kristina outlines how allyship matters, give us an update on the progress of the 2030 Gay Games bid, and reminds us that LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport is still a work in progress and UWA Sport remain committed to shifting the culture in sport. And to close the show who is getting their game on? The AFLW – it’s the annual Indigenous Round! This year’s celebration will take place over two rounds: Round 3 (29 – 31 Aug) and Round 4 (6 – 7 Sept). In 2025 there are 22 Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander players listed across the AFLW, with former Docker and Blue Kirby Bentley announced as the 2025 AFLW Indigenous Round Honouree. (42:43)
