In our second segment in the series, we discuss safety planning and putting intervention orders into practise.

Dene and Producer Annie chat to Monica from KHQ Lawyers and Stephen from the Protective Group, who is a former Victoria Police detective.

Ideally, victims of domestic violence should be able to remain living safely in their home with their children (if they are parents) rather than fleeing to live in emergency accommodation.

By removing the perpetrator, victims can recover while maintaining their support networks.

Monica and Stephen talk about practical ideas for looking after your personal safety once an intervention order is in place. For example, changing the locks and installing security cameras in your home are important but are often forgotten.
