Detective Senior Constable Callum Scott has become the first person in Victoria Police’s 170-year history to be twice awarded a prestigious bravery accolade.
Detective Scott was presented with the Medal for Courage at a ceremony at the Police Academy in Glen Waverley on 26/10, after pulling a drowning man from the Yarra River and saving his life. The incident unfolded at Southbank near Sandridge Bridge on 26 August 2020.
He was also awarded the Medal for Courage in 2012 after rescuing a man who’d suffered severe burns to the hands and face when a gas cylinder he was working on ignited at Wheelers Hill on 30 August 2012.
