ESC History Chat: Bosnia-Herzegovina
Some countries come to Eurovision with dreams of winning in the contest and showing their country off to a massive global audience.
The Bosnian story at Eurovision is somewhat different. In 1993, the Bosnian delegation left Sarajevo under a torrent of gunfire, but still arrived in Millstreet. In 1994, the applause their entrants received was so rapturous that one of their singers had trouble starting.
For Bosnia-Herzegovina, merely being at Eurovision was a glimmer of normalcy during very uncertain times and would evolve into a nation taking time out to tell the world “we’re getting better.”
This is AJ & Hikki’s take on Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Eurovision History.
