It’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Ryan!

Ryan Dolan put on quite a performance in his dress rehearsal late on Friday. The Irish entrant brought out the drums to create a small slice of Celtic love on the Malmö Arena stage.
After the rehearsal, the young singer brought his (unfortunately) clothed percussionists along with him to the press conference room.
With Dolan having supported past Eurovision entrants, Jedward, he was asked what he’s learnt from them. His response? Laughter, along with a quip about high hairstyles. What he learnt not to do was far easier, remarking that he knows he shouldn’t be “… jumping too high, breaking a leg.” In the end, he just wants to do his best, and hopefully call his mum if he does win the whole thing.
There has been a lot of talk about the staging of Only Loves Survives, with three oiled, muscled, topless men taking a main role backing the Irish singer. In response to a question about its homoeroticism, Dolan could only show a finger, pointing out the man behind the staging, Stuart O’Connor, and remarking “That’s the man responsible there.” The delegation contributed to the discussion, with the head of delegation saying, “I think it’s show business more than homoeroticism.”
Dolan has been a Eurovision fan for years. He has memories of “… the whole family getting together, supporting Ireland…” growing up. What’s his favourite Irish Eurovision song? “Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids is definitely my favourite entry,” Dolan said.
And he even performed it for the press!
