Georgia: Nina’s the second Warrior

Georgian TV show Communicator has just finished, with an entry for Vienna.

Nina Sublatti is off to represent Georgia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her song Warrior.

The track was written by the nearly-20-year-old Sublatti, who also plays piano. She won 2013’s edition of Saqartvelos Varskvlavi, Georgia’s version of Idol, and went on to release her debut album last year. Dare to Be Nina Sublatti became the highest selling album on the Georgian charts for the year and a second album is slated for release this year.

Nina’s winning song scored 21 points, beating Misha Sulukhia’s song, One And Only, on 19 points.

Warrior was a favourite of the international jury, receiving high praise from Emmelie de Forest, Eugen Eliu, Thomas G:son, Marco Brey and Ralf Reinink. It also received the highest number of televotes.

This is the second song to go to Vienna with the Warrior title; the Maltese entry from Amber is also called Warrior. Is it a sign of what’s to come?
