Feminist About Town – Slutwalk and SlutFest

Katie talks to Karen Pickering about Slutwalk and the conversation around sexual assault, victim-blaming and slut-shaming. Slutwalk is important to many sections of the community, including those who work at rape crisis centres, sex- and gender-diverse people, sex workers, and survivors of sexual assault. This year a concert is being held on Friday 12 July to raise money for the 2013 walk. (Slutwalk 2013 will take place on Saturday 31 August.)

Katie and Karen also talk about the most recent Cherchez La Femme salon, which was on feminism and crime. Topics included intimate-partner violence in queer relationships, and the high rates of crime against transgender people. (Originally aired on 5 July 2013.)
