EP Review – Julian Wa
EP Review – Julian Wa

You should really introduce yourself to the psyechelic world of Julian Wa. The album is an absolute treat! The vibe is Shoegaze and Dream Pop. The sound of each tune on the album changes from song to song, but perhaps if you put Kurt Vile, Banks, DIIV and Firekites into a blender, drank it all up and then waited to see what happened then that may be the sound of Julian Wa.
It’s a short and sweet journey through the EP, but my god it is an engaging one. It’s a hypnotic, soothing sound that is somewhat meditative. It starts off quite and calm but you don’t realise how intense it is until you’re actually fully in it!
My personal favourite is ‘Bloom’. The vocals, mixed with the guitar and the tempo that just gets faster and faster gave me goosebumps and then theres the relaxing ‘Bathe In Morning Sun’ which is the track that reminds me of Kurt Vile.
There is very limited information about the mysterious Julian Wa, but what I do know is that these tracks were written and recorded by Julian Wa in a series of secluded spaces. This was done to produce an “in the moment” kind of sound which was definitely achieved.
Personally, this is 100% my vibe and I would like to hear more of Julian Wa. So if you’re reading this, Julian Wa, please keep up the good work. I love listening to music like this that has the ability to stop me in my tracks and really listen. This music is so full of emotion, but its calming at the same time.
I can feel the passion and I can feel like this was a labour of love.
Lovely!
