What’s in a name?

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras are contemplating a change to their name and they want to hear from you!

They’ve begun consultation to address feedback by some members, community groups, event organisers, patrons and visitors that the name of the organisation is not inclusive.

So the boys on MAD Wednesday decided to put the call out to the JOY listeners as well as asking their guests what they thought would be a good suggestion for a change in the name with some passionate and hilarious results.

Changing a name with decades of community history behind it is not something SGLMG does lightly; too they want to hear from their members, supporters and wider community on ideas, concerns and hopes for a potential name change.

On Sunday 7th April at the Darlinghurst Theatre Company they will hold a Community Consultation Event at 4pm where Mardi Gras members will be invited to engage in the discussion over the next few weeks and to complete a survey at the end of the consultation process to select a name.
