Three independent Aussie acts contribute to the five local additions this week.
Former “Neighbours” regular Nicola Charles gets her first run on JOY weekdays, Sydney duo Garçon Garçon – favoured sons of the bear fraternity – get a second add to JOY, and Melbourne lawyer turned UK pop rising star Bowie Jane scores a follow-up addition.
A new dance production duo out of Sydney working with their employer NEON records, 6 Fingers & Tass, smash out a great debut dance vocal number, and super-cool favourites Empire of the Sun release the second single from “Ice on the Dune” following its ARIA Album Chart #2 debut last week.
We weren’t a fan of MKTO’s debut, despite it selling platinum in Australia, but “Classic” is pure pop, as is 17-year-old US YouTube sensation Austin Mahone’s Aussie debut, “What About Love”.
Finally, for some smoky realness (including violins no less), UK “wonky pop” artist Dan Black has teamed up with US R&B princess Kelis for the first single in the lead-up to his forthcoming third solo album.
