Melbourne out-and-proud singer-songwriter Johnny X is no stranger to the JOY airwaves, with his previous writer/producer credits including Gina G’s “Fresh” and Warren Nomi’s “The Rush”. In the past, we’ve heard Johnny’s own releases “Dizzy”, “Supersonic” and “Automatic”, to name but a few. As well, “I’m Gonna Get It” appeared on Volume 5 of JOY’s own CD compilation series. Johnny loves a racy lyric wrapped up in a shiny pop package, and “Whore” is no exception.

Parralox frontman John Von Ahlen is another out-and-proud Melbourne-based singer-songwriter-producer. For Crying on the Dancefloor he has teamed up with a new vocalist and given us a raft of remixes to choose from, all of them worth a listen. We’ve elected to go with John’s own down-tempo reinterpretation.

Melbourne’s Miami Horror are currently based in LA, and “Wild Motion (Set It Free)” is their first release since relocating. It’s excellent.

Sydney-based former Young Diva Ricki-Lee’s Happy Ever After is the third single from her forthcoming album. We love it.

The new single from Bonnie Anderson (who won Australia’s Got Talent in 2007) Blackout perplexed us a little as the follow-up to her cute little 2013 pop debut Raise The Bar. With special thanks to DJ Bexta for an exclusive JOY rework of her official remix and a bit more of a nip-and-tuck by our very own music director, we’ve come up with a version we think works for the JOY airwaves.

UK songstress Charli XCX impresses with her latest single Boom Clap – her first solo effort to impact the Australian charts.

G.R.L. were originally to be the new members of The Pussycat Dolls, but the Doll’s creator decided a brand new identity was in order. Debuting on a Pitbull hit a few months back, the five-member group now strikes with its own hot little debut single, Ugly Heart.

Set your alarm and tune into Rochén and Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
