English synthpop duo Erasure kick us off this week with the first single from their forthcoming 16th studio album. This album marks 30 years of recording together for Depeche Mode founding member Vince Clark and out-and-proud Andy Bell.
Irish rock band The Script make their first appearance on JOY weekdays with the first single from their forthcoming fourth studio album.
A triple threat of pop princesses have teamed up for Jessie J’s new single. We think Bang Bang will be huge right around the world.
Sia’s second single from 1000 Forms of Fear, ‘Burn the Pages’, is no carbon copy of ‘Chandelier’ and is more a tip of the hat to her earlier stylings.
Jessica Mauboy has taken a track from her current album and re-worked the lyrics for her appearance at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
We have added no fewer than three independent Australian artists into the mix this week. Wes Carr should be no stranger, having had a #1 single and #2 album after winning Australian Idol in 2008. He’s been a strictly acoustic-driven rock artist to this point, so we were pleasantly surprised when he had a haircut and produced a pearler of a dance-pop anthem. And the excellent dance-pop continues with debuts from two very young Melbourne-based independent artists, 17-year-old Rachel Costanzo with Starlight and Nussy with Dizzy.
