The debut album from UK production duo Gorgon City has failed to make a mark so far here in Australia. For the fifth single, they have teamed up with veteran American singer and actress Jennifer Hudson for a likely smash hit. Helping out is UK production duo The Freemasons, who have added their magic touch to the remix package and propelled it to the top of the dance charts in the US already.
US singer Kimberly Davis is best known as the veteran lead vocalist with Nile Rodgers and Chic. In an interesting side project, she’s recorded a cover of a classic 1985 top 20 hit by Australia’s own Dragon. ‘Speak No Evil’ cleverly combines Kimberly’s disco creditability with the original track’s rock sensibility.
UK stalwarts of the dance genre Above & Beyond return with yet another strong, radio-friendly single from their fourth studio album, released just this week.
And UK veterans McFly teamed with newcomers Busted last year to create McBusted, with all but one of the combined original members. They’ve announced they will be one of the supporting acts for One Direction’s Australian tour dates in February, so their UK top 10 single is now getting an airing here.
