Because of a slightly left-of-centre strategy from Sony Music this week, we kick off our new listings with two tracks by the same artists. The first is Pay No Mind from French producer Madeon’s debut album, Adventure, featuring American indie-electronica band Passion Pit. The second is Lifted Up, from Passion Pit’s forthcoming third album, Kindred, featuring Madeon.
Maroon 5 are back at the top of end of the charts with the third single, Sugar, from their fifth album, V.
British singer-songwriter Florence Welch surprised the music world this week by dropping the first single from a forthcoming Florence + the Machine album. What Kind of Man is already top 20 in Australia, which is the band’s highest chart placing since 2012’s ‘Spectrum’.
On the back of those rumours around the level of collaboration going on (we’re hearing wedding bells, apparently), German-Russian producer Zedd has dropped his next single featuring former Disney starlet Selena Gomez. We think ‘I Want You to Know’ has a good chance of doing as well for Selena as Zedd’s ‘Break Free’ did for Ariana Grande.
