Sydney-based DJ-producer, I Remember House party organiser and all-round nice guy Dan Murphy teams up with Sydney singer Kristen Pearson for a second time (the previous time was via Dan’s band, Mystery Blonde) with a remake of Republica’s 1996 hit, ‘Ready to Go’. This is a fun-filled, rollicking dance-floor filler.
Perth-based 5-piece alt-rock band Birds of Tokyo have a new compilation album out soon, and a new feature single, ‘I’d Go With You Anywhere’, sits nicely in weekday JOY.
A Great Big World are from New York and scored a #1 hit in Australia last year with ‘Say Something’, a collaboration with Christina Aguilera. Their new single, ‘Hold Each Other’, is a pronoun-positive love song, with one of the duo, Chad King, making it clear in a recent interview it was specifically rewritten this way and has become his big coming-out song.
All the recent Jonas brother attention has been focused on the youngest sibling, Nick. Older brother Joe has obviously decided he needs in on the action: he has formed a new band, DNCE, with himself as lead singer and released a very radio-friendly, dance-pop debut single in ‘Cake by the Ocean’.
