Melbourne-based independent singer-songwriter Kylie Auldist – best known for her time as lead singer of The Bamboos – kicks off our new music this week with a weekday JOY debut. ‘Family Tree’ is fun, uplifting and a little slice of retro disco.
A new band on the scene, Adelaide four-piece Love & Other Crimes, have impressed us with ‘Imagination’. It’s the second single from their forthcoming EP, which is due out in April.
Sydney-based American expat Bielfield has a new single, ‘Kings & Queens’. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it’s hard to pass up a song by an up-and-coming artist who will not only be performing at multiple parties during Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras but has secured Sydney-based out-and-proud DJ Dan Murphy AND Florida-based DJ Tracy Young to produce remixes for the single package!
Out-and-proud Neil Tennant and his co-conspirator Chris Lowe created the iconic Pet Shop Boys in the UK in 1981. With multiple hits around the world in the decades since then, the boys now run their own race with their own record label. We’ve got the first single from their 13th studio album for you. Produced by pop wiz Stuart Price, it’s called ‘The Pop Kids’.
Taylor Swift grants us a seventh single from 1989, the 2015 Grammy-winning Album of the Year. ‘New Romantics’ was a bonus track exclusive to Target stores in the USA when it was originally released in 2014.
Set your alarm and tune into Rochén, Adam or Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
