New music to weekdays (20 April, 2016)
Aus Flag Icon Nick Skitz ft. Melissa Tkautz In the Evening (LNG)
Aus Flag Icon Dami Im Sound of Silence [7th Heaven Radio Edit] (SME)
Billy Ocean When the Going gets Tough, the Tough get Going [7th Heaven Radio Edit] (SME)

LuvBug Best is Yet to Come (UMA)

Kicking off our new music this week is none other than the 1992 ARIA winner for biggest-selling single (for ‘Read My Lips’) and star of 1990s TV smash soap, E Street, Melissa Tkautz. She’s teamed up with veteran Australian DJ-producer Nick Skitz to rework and revitalise the 1984 US dance chart top 10 and 1997 Australian top 20 (remix version) of Sheryl Lee Ralph’s ‘In the Evening’. We suspect you’ll be seeing Melissa performing this in a gay club in your town sometime soon!

You’ve been hearing Dami Im’s fantastic Eurovision Song Contest contender for the last few weeks on JOY. To ensure additional European support, getting the song into the European clubs and onto the dance floors around the world is a pretty good strategy. The 7th Heaven Remix & Production version of ‘Sound of Silence’ should definitely achieve that aim.

While we’re complimenting the 7th Heaven team, we also can’t fault their rework of the 30-year-old pop classic from Billy Ocean, ‘When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going’. To be released this week to help celebrate the remarkable top 10 position it achieved 30 years ago in over 15 countries, this release is set to coincide with a new two-CD greatest hits and covers release, Here You Are: The Best of Billy Ocean.

American singer-songwriter and Australian favourite Pink has released ‘Just Like Fire’ as the title song for Disney’s new movie, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and the first single from a forthcoming new album due out later in the year.

We’ve also got new UK dance-music trio LuvBug’s first release in Australia, which is their third release overall. ‘Best is Yet to Come’ is fun, bouncy and perfect for JOY.

Set your alarm and tune into Rochén, Adam or Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
