Kicking off our new music this week is the runner-up of Australia’s The Voice 2015 Joe Moore, who has released the follow-up to his debut single more than a year later. His latest single, ‘Easy for You’, will hopefully perform better than the #58 chart position achieved by ‘Invincible’ last year.
British-born Australian singer-songwriter Emmi was featured recently on one of Taylor Swift’s hand-crafted playlists, resulting in a massive surge in viral support. Subsequently Emmi has been snapped up by a major label and the Swift-endorsed single, ‘Sleep on It’, is here for you now.
Australian dance stalwarts The Potbelleez have teamed up with Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Zoë Badwi to cover the iconic 1998 hit from Mousse T and Inaya Day, ‘Horny’. We’re loving having Zoë back on our airwaves, and we’re sure you’re going to love this one too.
London-based expat Melburnians The Temper Trap are riding high after their third studio album debuted at #1 on the ARIA album charts. Their latest single, ‘Lost’, is sure to please.
We’ve been loving ‘Not Coming Down’ by Los Angeles-based Australian singer-songwriter Cleopold, from his debut EP, Altitude & Oxygen. We think you’ll find the next single, ‘The Space Between’, equally endearing.
Melbourne-based out-and-proud singer-songwriter and producer Sebastian Ivanov goes from strength to strength with his work in the electronic dance arena under the moniker Alius. He’s teamed up with a relatively unknown Canadian singer, Veronica, for his next single, ‘Hanging by a Thread’.
Swedish producer Andy Prinz has taken Melbourne-based Aussie singer-songwriter Libbi under his wing and producer her first single, ‘Refall in Love’. The combination seems to have worked.
Canadian producer A-Trak has teamed up with American duo Phantogram for a great follow-up to the recent JOY favourite ‘We All Fall Down’. His latest single, ‘Parallel Lines’, is a similar high-energy vocal anthem that we think you’ll be dancing to for weeks.
Major Lazer is an American electronic music outfit composed of record producer Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire. Their 2015 release with French producer DJ Snake and Danish singer MØ, ‘Lean On’, has sold more than four million copies and achieved #1 in more than 20 countries. The trio have teamed up with Justin Bieber and MØ once again for their follow-up single, ‘Cold Water’, and it’s already gone ballistic across the world. We’re on board.
British singer-songwriter-actress Sophie Ellis-Bextor was in Australia for the 2016 Mardi Gras performing at the biggest gay venues in Melbourne and Sydney. She’s been working on a new album and it’s due out in early September. The lead single, ‘Come with Us’, is available now and comes complete with a full set of ‘F9’ remixes – which we heavily suspect is a new name variant for UK production duo Freemasons.
Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
