There’s so much love to share this week on YES 94.9!
First up, there’s something new from Queenslanders Sunset City. These four lads are back with funk in ‘Pockets’, written after lead singer Parker was robbed in Hong Kong. After a few listens, people will be wondering whose pockets you’ve been picking as you unconsciously sing along out loud.
Australia is P!NK‘s second home, so it’s only fair that we get the second single from her forthcoming seventh studio album. ‘Beautiful Trauma’ is the follow-up to her ARIA #1 hit ‘What About Us’.
If you need a good dance, CID is the man for you. ‘Creepin” is his debut release on Don Diablo’s new label, Hexagon, and it’ll certainly get you on your feet. This New Yorker started DJing when he was just 12, and won a Grammy for his work on Cedric Gervais’s remix of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness’. After hearing this one, you’ll understand why dance floors around the world fill quickly when this man’s on the bill.
Masks seem to be the thing of 2017, first it was JOWST, and now it’s INDIIA. This Swedish production duo want only for their music to be judged, and nothing else. With their release of ‘Out of Love’, we’re certainly judging them highly. Whitney Phillips provides the vocals for a bouncy tune that’s sure to be a sound of our summer, and with Neiked’s production knowledge, we’ll hopefully hear a lot more of INDIIA’s sounds in the coming months.
Rounding out our YES week is a local release from Jake Fehily & Katie Weston featuring Sage Fuller, Jess Newman & Oliver Powell especially for the YES campaign. ‘Love is Love’ was written by award-winning Australian composer, lyricist and performer Newman to urge people to take part in the current Marriage Law Postal Survey. Melbourne-based singer Fehily lends his voice to the track and is supported on vocals by Weston, with Fuller on cello, Newman on keyboard and Powell on bass and drums. The team also produced a video for the song, and the performers are hoping their song will become one of the anthems of the YES movement.
