As we edge closer to that announcement, celebrate all that is great about our communities by listening to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.

Kicking things off this week is an absolute treat from Melbourne-based, Newcastle-born queer Māori singer-songwriter Kira Puru. ‘Tension’ is a big shift in sound from her last gig as the lead singer of Kira Puru & The Bruise and musical collaborator with Illy, Paul Kelly and Urthboy. The bass line will hook you in from the very first second and Kira’s vocals will carry you through a piece of music that will leave you wanting more. Give it a few listens and we think you’ll be tapping your foot to this masterpiece.

Pete Tong is DJ royalty. He is so utterly royal that Prince William awarded him an MBE in 2014. Team him up with the Heritage Orchestra, conducted by the brilliant Jules Buckley, and some on-point vocals from Becky Hill, and you have the wonder that is ‘Sing It Back’. The Moloko cover is the first release from the Ibiza Classics album, due for release on 1 December. There’s something about an orchestra that brings music to life, and this song is a perfect example of that. If only more clubs had the room for a full orchestra.

Norwegian producer Alan Walker is back with another sure-fire hit. Noah Cyrus and Digital Farm Animals join him to deliver the super-catchy ‘All Falls Down’. The music video, with its excellent forging and soldering work, clocked up 6 million views in its first four days and has now reached 14 million views. If you’re a fan of all things sci-fi, you’ll most likely enjoy the clip and have some idea of what’s going on.

David Guetta is no stranger to a hit; Charli XCX has had less experience in the hit department. But the two of them, along with Afrojack and French Montana, have bunkered down to produce ‘Dirty Sexy Money’. The beat machine works overtime in this one, which will probably lead you to make a variety of rapid hand movements in the air throughout the song. Just be wary of people around you when you pump a fist or two.

Back in 1999, Groove Armada released their second album, Vertigo. The first single from it was ‘If Everybody Looked the Same’. Fast-forward 18 years and Melbourne-based producer M1 has taken the song to a whole new level. Get ready to dance!

Sydney-based alt-pop group Tigertown made waves with their debut single, ‘Warriors’. With their EP dropping on 17 November, they have released a second single, ‘Come My Way’. The song was written in Nicaragua and although it might be an up-tempo track, it’s about helping someone through a period of depression (If you ever need someone to talk to, get in touch with Beyond Blue or QLife).
