JOY’s music director might have just stepped off a plane, but that won’t stop new music hitting your ears this week.

Ivy Adara has made it big, going from Sydney to Los Angeles to spread her songwriting wings. She’s already responsible for Jess Mauboy’s Fallin’, Maggie Lindemann’s Obsessed and Nat Conway’s Summer to Stay, but this talent is not stopping there. ‘Currency’ is the newest from Ivy’s forthcoming EP, and you will soon be hearing it on Home and Away. It’s a bop and we think you’ll be throwing your cash around when you hear it.

Aussie electronic duo The Presets are releasing their fourth studio album on 1 June. ‘Downtown Shutdown’ is the third single from Hi Viz, and it delivers joy to your ears. Described as the ‘party cousin to My People‘, the track features Shepparton’s St Paul’s Lutheran Church Choir whose singers, from a multitude of African nations, provide a gospel punch to this dance track.

Success has been following PNAU around since they released ‘Chameleon’ in 2016. ‘Changa’ is the latest to drop from their album of the same name, and it continues the Aussie trio’s ability to get you dancing wherever you may be. If the song seems a little familiar, it might be due to it being used as our Mardi Gras weekend theme. Continuing the colourful Mardi Gras theme is the song’s video, which sees vocalist Kira Divine covered in body paint and bathed in black light. It’s certainly something to watch!

Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles got together in 2010 in Canberra to form Peking Duk. They’re one of the more exciting things to come from the nation’s capital, and we’ve been loving their work, especially since their 2014 thrice-platinum hit, High. The boys have just released their Reprisal project – a ten-minute film inspired by spaghetti westerns, Quentin Tarantino and Sovereign Hill. ‘Fire’ is the first of two songs in the short, and it features the uncredited vocals of co-writer Sarah Aarons. We reckon it’ll set you alight.

Acclaimed and criticised Netflix series 13 Reasons Why is returning for a second season, and Selena Gomez has provided a song for its soundtrack. ‘Back to You’ is an original addition to the 13RW soundtrack for Gomez, who is one of the show’s executive producers; she covered Yazoo’s 1982 hit Only You for the first season. It should be a sure-fire hit for Selena as we wait for her third solo album.
