It’s time to spring into another season of amazing music for your workday.
They’ve already had massive success with I Wanna Know, and NOTD are back with a brand-new bop. The Swedish duo have dropped Been There Done That, featuring the vocals of fellow Swede Tove Styrke. With a slight drop in tempo, the boys bring in some guitar and a riff-tastic chorus that is bound to get stuck in your head. Tove adds a welcome ethereal quality to this one, which we think will do just as well for Tobias and Samuel as their last big hit.
Last year we featured local gay singer DYLAN‘s debut single ‘Freedom’. Ahead of his TV talent show judging debut on Channel 7’s All Together Now, he has released his follow-up single, ‘Love on Your Side’, which was written after his aunt passed away from cancer. It’s been remixed by a JOY favourite, DJ Dan Murphy, and will bring a touch of vocal house to your day.
CLOVES is Melbourne-born, London-based singer-songwriter Kaity Dunstan. She appeared on The Voice in 2013 but got knocked out in the battle rounds. Thankfully that experience didn’t dent her passion for music, and she released her first EP in 2015. ‘Hit Me Hard’ is the fifth single from her forthcoming album, One Big Nothing, due on 28 September, and it does exactly what it says on the label. This one will hit you smack-bang between the ears, and we think you’ll love it.
Get ready for a classic! ‘Ain’t Too Proud to Beg’ was a Motown hit for The Temptations back in 1966, and some local lads have given it a 2018 polish. NZ-born, Melbourne-based producer Jolyon Petch and Gold Coast DJ Komes have thrown their gear together to deliver The Temptations to your dance floor. You’ll sing, you’ll dance and you’ll shoop-shoop the whole way through.
German trans singer Kim Petras has become a big name since the release of Heart to Break earlier this year. She has been named as one of the support acts for Troye Sivan’s Bloom tour in the US, and has been dropping regular singles in advance of the release of her debut album later this year. ‘All the Time’ is the latest of these singles, and it channels 80s synths and has a singalong chorus.
It’s been about a year since Swedish producer Alesso last made his mark on the Australian chart, with Let Me Go peaking at #12. He’s finally got us dancing again with ‘Remedy’, with the help of English singer Conor Maynard. The video asks more questions than it answers, but we reckon we’d be just as joyful with Alesso DJing a costume party as some alien children would.
Swedes Oliver Nelson and Tobtok have pulled together a bouncy bop that is a perfect marker for the start of spring. British singer Sorana takes you on the ride that is ‘Jealous’, and the combination of slappy bass, jaunty synths and an earworm of a melody will stay with you for a while. We dare you not to sing Oooh, I’m jealous you know …
