In the wise words of Kesha, ‘I’m still here, still bringin’ it to ya’ and we’ve got quite the selection this week.
As one of last year’s most influential people (according to TIME Magazine), Kesha has certainly shone a spotlight on how parts of the music industry works. She’s also been an example of how to break through the tough times and keep doing what she loves. Ahead of the release of High Road on 10 January, the American singer-songwriter has dropped a brand-new single. An almighty banger, ‘Raising Hell’ reminds us that sometimes good people do bad things. Queer bounce musician Big Freedia lends her sound to get you shaking, especially while you watch Kesha as a televangelist who goes bad.
Lizzo first released ‘Good as Hell’ in 2016 but it didn’t go too far. Earlier this year, the track underwent a renaissance after the success of ‘Truth Hurts’. The track was slowly climbing the ARIA chart when the body- and sex-positive singer-flautist decided to give it a twist by enlisting Ariana Grande. Of course we’ve given it a JOY tweak, combining the best of both the ‘clean’ and ‘explicit’ versions to create something special.
Sydney-based singer-songwriter CXLOE has graced us with pop gem after pop gem.
Fun fact: @iamcxloe has never released a bad song, it’s just one perfect pop song after another 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩https://t.co/88R9f69egC

The latest piece of perfection is ‘Devil You Don’t’. That is all.
Put Dolly Parton behind the wheel of a bus powered by a Swedish duo and you get one of this month’s biggest bops. Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw are Galantis, best known for their JOY anthems Peanut Butter Jelly and Tell Me You Love Me, and they’re getting ready to take you to Church early next year. ‘Faith’ is the latest single from that forthcoming album, which features not only one of our favourite country music icons, but also Dutch singer Mr Probz. It’s a collab made in heaven, and this one is bound to take you there.
English singer Gabrielle Aplin has been busy recording a new album, destined to drop on 17 January. ‘Like You Say You Do’ is the fourth single from Dear Happy, “inspired by how differently you can portray your life and relationships on social media compared to real life”. It’s an uplifting slice of pop that we reckon is made for Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.
Inspired by fake friendships, Jack Gray has released ‘Friends Like These’. The Aussie singer-songwriter, who is now based in LA, delivers synth-pop goodness in spades, having found success with his Nights Like This EP earlier this year. With the promise of more new music to come, we can’t wait to hear what else this Queenslander has in store.
