We might not have a long list of new tunes, but it still packs quite the punch!
Swedish duo Galantis have gifted us a new album, and Church delivers their signature dance sound in spades. ‘Never Felt a Love Like This’ is the sixth single from the album, with work from Aussie producer Hook N Sling and Dutch-Israeli singer-songwriter Dotan Harpenau. This one is made for a sneaky booty shake on the way back to your desk.
Having just excited the crowds at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Sam Smith announced the details of their forthcoming third studio album, To Die For. As you wait for it to appear in your playlists on 1 May, you get to enjoy the samples of audio from the 2011 film Donnie Darko in the British singer-songwriter’s new single. We’ve gone with the Madism remix of ‘To Die For’ to give it a slight lift, just right for your workday.
Sweden has just finished its colossal Eurovision selection competition, Melodifestivalen. Coming in tenth place was lesbian singer-songwriter Mariette with her pop single ‘Shout It Out’. With a driving riff and ample percussion, this is one we think you’ll be shouting loudly to in the car!
Hailing from Canada, vocalist Josh Ramsay, bassist Mike Ayley, guitarist Matt Webb and drummer Ian Casselman are Marianas Trench. Not to be confused with the deepest trench in the world, the band has released five albums since forming in 2001, with the latest being Phantom. Ramsay is also the production genius behind CRJ’s Call Me Maybe. The band is soon to tour Australia and have given us ‘I Knew You When’ to enjoy in the meantime. We think you’ll be all over it.
Although our relationship with New Zealand is rocky at times, our musical connections are rock solid. Four-member band Alae found commercial success with their 2018 debut album, Henry St, and their impact continues to grow. Gay singer-songwriter Alex Farrell-Davey worked with producer Justin Grey during the APRA AMCOS SongHubs program last year and wrote the songs for the band’s forthcoming EP, including the brand-new single ‘Summer Thing’. So confident are they that this bop could get anyone dancing that the video features what could be described as a perfect entry for this year’s Goth Eisteddfod. We think it’ll put a smile on your face!
