JOY Daytimes

7 Feb 2018

New music to weekdays (7 February 2018)

New music additions

Dagny Love You Like That (UMA)
Peking Duk Wasted (SME)
Noah Kahan & Julia Michaels Hurt Somebody (UMA)
One Bit & Noah Cyrus My Way (SME)

We know how much you love singing along while listening to JOY, so we’ve upped the singability of Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix with this week’s additions.

The last we heard from Dagny was her banger Backbeat back in 2016. This Norwegian singer-songwriter is back with a song that you’ll end up unconsciously humming. ‘Love You Like That’ is an electro-pop bop, suitable for belting out in the shower, crafting hairography to, or tapping to in the car on your way home. We think you’ll love it.

Aussie DJ and production duo Peking Duk have been busy lately, although they did have time to show off at the tennis. ‘Wasted’ features the vocals of one Duk, Adam Hyde, and invites you to dream about who you’d like to get naked with. The question is, would you choose Adam or his Peking partner, Ruben Styles?

Strafford is an American town of about 1000 people in Vermont. Although Noah Kahan hails from this little place, he’s becoming quite the giant in musical circles. He has re-recorded with American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels the latest track to be lifted from his debut EP. ‘Hurt Somebody’ will probably end up being on repeat in your head (along with Dagny’s ‘Love You Like That’). Enjoy it.

Brits Joe Murphy and Jonty Howard are One Bit. They’ve just signed to a major label after having produced and written music together for a while. To celebrate, they’ve teamed up with Noah Cyrus to create a track you’ll love to dance to. An anthem for some, My Way is all about a person who thinks they know better. We wonder if either of the famous Cyrus sisters would fall into that category.
