Celebrate the end of #JOY25YearsProud Radiothon and Pride Month with this huge list of dance-inducing additions to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.
Leading the charge this week is VALENCE – out-and-proud singer and producer Chris Nicolaou. This Melbourne-based lad has dropped ‘Make Your Move’, which will certainly entice you to bust a move with your mates. Having co-written this bop with his gay sister Katerina, VALENCE has lined up Polish singer Natalien G to supply the soaring vocals. If you’re a Eurovision lover, this may sound familiar to you – it was one of this year’s Polish national final hopefuls.
Out-and-proud DJs and producers Steven Redant and Joe Gauthreaux have teamed up to create a thumper just in time for the northern summer. ‘Together & Always’ is a perfect fit for the soundtrack to a sunny rooftop party. Throw on your tank top, grab a drink and dance all night to this one.
Detroit-based singer Flint Eastwood found huge success with her 2017 release Queen. She’s dropped ‘Real Love’ just in time for Pride season, a song she wrote in response to the struggle she faced being a gay member of her church community. Once the gospel choir kicks in, we think you’ll be throwing your hands up with enjoyment.
Kris James is a newcomer to the British music scene, with his single ‘Eyes Open’ being released next week. The remix from out-and-proud Brit Cutmore opened our eyes (and ears) to this quality debut. We reckon you won’t want to stop listening to this one!
Girl group Little Mix have been quiet of late, so when ‘Only You’ dropped into the JOY music director’s inbox, there were some yelps of excitement. The British women are joined by LA-based trio Cheat Codes, who wrote the song with The Six and Digital Farm Animals. It’s a mix of folk, pop and dance that aims to keep you dancing wherever you are.
Sometimes a hit just falls into your lap, and ‘Casually’ is that hit. It’s already made an impact on dance floors around Europe and the US and we’re ready to bring it to you. American producer and DJ Alyx Ander is responsible for this banger, alongside Dutch duo Redondo and American singer Maria Z. If you need a song to get sweaty to, this is it.
Brissie-based group Sheppard hit the jackpot this month when their new album, Watching the Sky, debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart. They had a chat to Tom and Warren about their adventures so far and their latest single, ‘Hometown’. After hours of uplifting dancing and celebrating, this one will bring you back to earth for a breather and an opportunity to clap yourself silly.
Dutch DJ-producer MOTi has been busy remixing other people’s songs of late, but he’s found some time to release his own single. Written with Sigala, ‘Just Don’t Know It Yet’ features the vocals of British singer BullySongs. It’s the perfect singalong end to a night of partying.
