Get your dancing shoes on for the latest songs to hit Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.
The timing was immaculate – just as London celebrated Pride, Bristol-based duo Blonde dropped a banger. ‘Me, Myself & I’ features the vocals of English singer Bryn Christopher, who you’d be familiar with from Sigala’s hit Sweet Lovin’. Bryn co-wrote this track alongside Blonde boys Adam Englefield and Jake Manson, and the trio have produced the next northern-summer club hit. Calling on every one of us to be happy to be ourselves, this is pure house joy wound up in a throbbing beat and synthy goodness. We reckon you won’t want to stop singing along. You should also check out the video, featuring some members of London’s LGBTI communities – it’ll put a smile on your face.
‘Like I Do’ is the debut single for Melbourne-based DJ-producer R-CUE. Known for his turntable skills, R-CUE has landed residencies at Crown, Cloud Nine and the Emerson, and has supported Ja Rule, Drake and Jason Derulo during their Aussie tours. He features the vocals of Sri Lankan-born, Melbourne-based singer Lakshane in this bop. It’s made for a sultry dance.
Sydney-based twins Cosmo and Patrick Liney have been making music as Cosmo’s Midnight since 2013, when they released the ethereal offering Phantasm. Their debut studio album, What Comes Next, has just dropped and so has their funky single ‘Talk to Me’. It’s not just the slapped bass and jingly beats that will get you excited – we think the vocals from Swedish singer Tove Styrke will delight you too.
It didn’t do too well in Australia when it was originally released in 1981, only reaching #100 on the chart, but Journey’s classic has grown to be loved. Aussie duo Mashd N Kutcher are the latest to try their hand at a remake of ‘Don’t Stop Believin”. Your favourite small-town girl and city boy taking the midnight train going anywhere are now accompanied on their travels by a thumping beat, mountains of keys and percussion, and the impressive vocals of Addison. Don’t stop listenin’ to this one.
A touch of tropical house never hurts – and thanks to Kygo, we have some. The Norwegian DJ-producer has teamed up with American rock band Imagine Dragons for ‘Born to Be Yours’. If you’ve ever wondered what Green Day singing Lullaby would sound like, this is it. And we’re certainly not displeased by it!
George Ezra is an English singer-songwriter who has been making waves with his brand-new album, Staying at Tamara’s. It peaked at #1 in the UK and got to #7 here in Oz. However, he’s still probably better known here for his 2013 hit Budapest, which turns up in club playlists to this day. ‘Shotgun’ is the latest from the new album; it landed him his first UK #1, and everyone’s hoping for a similarly good result here. The original has been picked up by radio stations around the country, but we’ve decided to ramp up the pace with The Wild remix. We reckon you’ll appreciate it.
