New music additions

Rave Radio You’re Makin’ Me High (VICIOUS)
Courtney Act Fight for Love (IND)
Ariana Grande thank u, next (Division 4 & Matt Consola Radio Edit) (SWISHCRAFT / UMA)
Ummet Ozcan x PollyAnna Starchild (SPINNIN)
Benjamin Ingrosso Behave (James Carter Remix) (TEN)

Before Christmas and its festivities take over, enjoy the last of the additions to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix for 2018.

Gold Coast duo Brett Allen and James Todman have transformed an RnB classic into a house banger. Toni Braxton’s 1996 hit ‘You’re Makin’ Me High’ has been remade by Rave Radio for the summertime dance floor, and you’ll be floating on its funky vibes and lush harmonies.

In February, Australia will hold its very first Eurovision selection competition, Australia Decides. The first entry has been released, and it’s a banger. Out-and-proud Aussie Courtney Act throws down the gauntlet with her release, ‘Fight for Love’. It’s exactly the song we need to celebrate love of all kinds and break down the barriers between people. We think you’ll be wanting to break free from your shackles with this one.

It’s been a big year for American singer Ariana Grande. Her fourth album, Sweetener, peaked at #1 on the ARIA chart and all 15 songs from the album found a place in the singles chart in the same week. Her latest #1 single is ‘thank u, next’, and it has been given a club makeover by Aussie producer Division 4 and out-and-proud producer Matt Consola. If you love the original, you’re going to go crazy for this remix, which is just perfect for JOY.

Ummet Ozcan is a Dutch-born Turkish DJ and producer who has been making music since 2006. He’s had a few big club hits, including Revolution and The Hum, and is known for the way he has moved between genres over the years. His latest release is ‘Starchild’, featuring the vocals of Dutch singer-songwriter PollyAnna. We think you’ll be pumping the air when this pounds your speakers.

Earlier this year, Benjamin Ingrosso represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest with Dance You Off, coming 7th in the Grand Final. The cousin of famous EDM master Sebastian Ingrosso released his debut album, Identification, following the contest. ‘Behave’ is the third single from it, which has been remixed by British producer James Carter. It gives the single a gritty club feel, which we reckon is a perfect fit for the upcoming party season.

As the year comes to a close, we’d like to say thanks! Thank you for locking it on JOY during your work day and showing your support through tweeting, emailing, donating and becoming members. We’ll keep your favourite uplifting tracks spinning all summer long, until the next load of brand-new music hits the airwaves in early January.
