This week we have Aussie music from Sydney independent singer-songwriter Bertie Blackman. “Run for Your Life” is a more pop-centric electro-synth affair than anything we’ve heard from this 10-year veteran of the Aussie music scene.
Lily Allen is back with a huge slap at the online detractors of her earlier single “Hard Out Here”. You really have to hear “URL Badman” to appreciate Lily’s funny and acerbic take on this all-too-common first-world phenomenon.
Glee star Lea Michele’s second single from her debut album is a more classic pop anthem than “Cannonball”, and a match for the likes of Kelly Clarkson or P!nk, one might suggest.
After a wait of more than four years, UK singer-songwriter Elly Jackson, better known as La Roux, is back. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed in the first single from her forthcoming album, “Uptight Downtown”.
Finally, UK drum-and-bass duo Sigma put out a bootleg remix of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” a few months back. Interest from radio was so big that they headed into the studio, used a session singer for the vocals and in a flash had themselves a UK #1 single.
