New music to weekdays (20 August, 2014)

Freemasons feat. Andrea Martin – Nothing to Lose (Edit) (FREEMAISON)
Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (UMA)
Beyoncé – Pretty Hurts (Eddie Said radio edit) (SME)
Union J – Tonight (We Live Forever) (SME)
Hilary Duff – All About You (SME)

JOY’s favourite Brighton-based UK production duo Freemasons will release their first full-length mix album in five years next month. In the lead-up, a five-track EP has popped up (on iTunes UK only) of new work from the boys, including two radio edits. The first of those kicks off our new music additions this week.

American singer-songwriter-actress and fast becoming style icon Taylor Swift has scored an immediate hit with the first single, Shake It Off, from her fifth studio album, 1989. It already has more than 16 million views online (and counting) and is #1 on iTunes across the globe.

While we understand the latest album from Beyoncé has been warmly received by her fans, we have struggled to find a match for our weekday sound in the singles released so far. But Sydney-based producer Eddie Said is responsible for an official mix that has propelled Pretty Hurts to the top of the club charts in the US, and we have that one for you now.

UK boy band Union J, with out-and-proud member Jaymi Hensley, have switched record labels from RCA to Epic, which for all intents and purposes means they remain part of Sony Music worldwide. The move has however, pushed a second album into the offing in less than twelve months, and the first single, Tonight (We Live Forever), is with us now.

Finally, we haven’t had any new music from Hilary Duff since 2006, and the first promo single released earlier this year from her forthcoming album was less than encouraging. We’re pleased to let you know that Hilary’s second single, All About You, should not disappoint.

Set your alarm and tune into Rochén and Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
