New music to weekdays (17 September, 2014)
Broods – L.A.F. (UMA)
Christina Perri – Burning Gold (ATL/WMA)
Frames & Elizabeth Rose – Anywhere (OCT/UMA) [AU]
Dirty South ft. Sam Martin – Unbreakable (EMI) [AU]
Mary Lambert – Secrets (EMI)
Delta Goodrem – Love Thy Will Be Done (SME) [AU]
Kicking off our new music this week are brother-and-sister duo Broods. Caleb and Georgia Notts are the hottest musical export out of New Zealand right now and their debut album is already top 5 here in Australia. L.A.F. should be a strong single for them.
Sydney DJ-producer Frames has teamed up with one of our favourite crop of new Aussie voices, also a DJ-producer and singer-songwriter in her own right, Elizabeth Rose, to produce a two-track EP. We’ve picked out track 2 for your listening pleasure.
Melbourne-based Dragan Roganović, aka Dirty South, has been producing quality music for over 10 years now – his remix of Evermore’s ‘It’s Too Late’ on JOY Volume 3 in 2006 is a great early example. He teams up with US singer-songwriter Sam Martin (most recently teamed with David Guetta and Avicii for “Lovers on the Sun”) for Unbreakable and we predict some international love for this one.
Delta Goodrem, fresh from a successful stint with The Voice Kids and announcing that she will be touring with Andrea Bocelli, has released a gorgeous cover of the 1991 number 1 hit by Martika. It’s a song Delta says has always been a favourite of hers.
Seattle-based singer-songwriter and spoken word artist Mary Lambert’s debut single, Secrets, is a quirky pop song about acceptance of ourselves, with all our flaws. Mary is best known for her vocals on the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis gay-rights smash hit of 2012, ‘Same Love’.
Set your alarm and tune into Rochén and Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
