Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi is in the news again reaffirming his previous position that allowing same-sex marriage will lead to calls for legislation sanctioning bestiality and polygamy.

Today we speak to two Melbourne based gay men who are candidates in the forthcoming federal election to get their thoughts on Bernardi’s statement.

KevinJamesFirst up – Kevin Ekendahl, the Liberal Party Candidate in the Federal seat of Melbourne Ports makes his thoughts known and then James Harrison joins us.  James is the Greens Candidate for the Federal Seat of Higgins.

In December 2012 the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) released a draft national Health & Physical Education (HPE) curriculum. It is now being considered in detail by the Commonwealth Minister for School Education, the Hon Peter Garrett MP, and his state and territory counterparts.  However, the draft curriculum does not even include the terms lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex.  Furthermore the draft curriculum does not even include a single reference to HIV.  Alastair Lawrie has started a petition to try and get this changed and he joins us to discuss it further.

Melbourne’s LGBTI business networking and social group GLOBE has three “Meet The Politicions” functions coming up featuring; Adam Bandt (Greens), Senator Penny Wong (Labor) and Kevin Ekendahl (Liberal).  Out-going President of GLOBE Peter Stephenson joins us to discuss these events further.
