Dancing Queens and Twirling Teens

For this edition of OUT TAKES, we put on our leg warmers and polish our tap shoes to take a look at some of our favourite (queer) dance films: think FAME, BILLY ELLIOT and SINGING IN THE RAIN. Films that have a lot of heart and use dance as a medium to celebrate difference. These are films that are a little bit camp and a lot of fun; films with iconic soundtracks that encourage us all to unleash our inner Billy Elliot!83415

Along side some of our favourite dance classics, we look at MR GAGA, a new documentary from iconic Israeli film maker Tomer Haymann, which chronicles the work of acclaimed choreographer Ohad Naharin, or Mr Gaga. We speak with Haymann about his love of Dance and his 20 year journey bringing MR GAGA to the screen.

Recommended viewing: Billy Elliot (2000).

Hungry for more: Mr Gaga (2016).
