MIFF 2016 – the Good, The Bad Girl, our Queer picks and Emo The Musical!

The Melbourne International Film Festival is back for 2016 and the OUT TAKES team get into the festive spirit with reviews, interviews and more. MIFF is one of the oldest film festivals in the world and the most significant screen event in Australia. As well as hosting a suite of local and international premiers, MIFEmo-the-musical-poster-F also incorporates a series of funding and development programs to aid local film production.

To help celebrate the Festival, the team is joined by Al Cossar, festival programmer, who chats about the different platforms that the festival incorporates, and runs through the festival’s formidable program.

The team is also joined by Australian directors Fin Edquist and Neil Triffett, both of whom have films premiering during the festival. Edquist’s coming of age drama ‘Bad Girl’ screens with Triffett’s musical satire ‘Emo the Musical’ as part of the festival’s Australian Premier Fund showcase.

Essential viewing – Our top five queer picks: Pedro Amodovar’s JULIETA; Sara Jordano’s KIKI; Andre Techine’s BEING 17; Neil Triffitt’s EMO THE MUSICAL; and Andrew Neel’s GOAT.
